Berlin Folk Festival 2026
MARCH 14TH - FESTSAAL KREUZBERG
The very first Berlin Folk Festival in 2026 brought Woodstock-inspired vibes to the heart of Berlin, inviting guests to leave their latex looks at home and slip into flannel instead. The festivals first edition unfolded a flower-power journey through the late ’60s and early ’70s, from singer-songwriters to nugget-mania and psychedelia.
I originally joined the core team as Head of Press and Image Relations and quickly expanded into a broader organizational and operational role. My responsibilities ranged from developing structure sheets and securing media presenters to onboarding partners such as BIC, Rough Trade, 1968 vintage vendor; consulting on social media, copy, merchandise, and budgeting; organizing backstage catering; recruiting volunteers; supervising on-site operations; and defining the floor plan and naming of festival spaces.
Together with the founders, Marie Sauerbrei (Managing Director and Booker of the Psych-Rock Roster) and Dan Oz (Shareholder & Booker of the Singer-Songwriter & Indiepop Acts), our three-person team brought the festival’s vision to life through a true DIY, crossover workflow.
Following a strong first edition with around 900 attendees, the founders have decided to part ways. Dan Oz will continue the Berlin Folk Festival brand independently, building on the structure and framework developed collectively during the first edition, while shifting the focus more toward folk and singer-songwriter pop formats. Marie Sauerbrei is stepping away from the project and moving forward independently. More to come from her side soon.
